It's been a busy couple of months for our tutors as we have been helping pharmacies the length and breadth of the country prepare to become Healthy Living Pharmacies in advance of the first quality payment this month. Leadership and Health Champion training are the backbone to achieving HLP status and we wanted to share a few of our recent success stories.
Congratulations first of all to the new Health Champions who attended training in historic Dover Town Hall (pictured) and achieved a 100% pass rate in their exams. Trainees were given a warm welcome and were in awe at their impressive surroundings, some parts dating backs to the early 13th century. Overlooked by stunning stained glass and beautiful paintings, training venues don't come much grander than this!
Over in Birmingham the LPC arranged a series of Leadership and Health Champion courses for local pharmacies in a variety of venues including Woodbrooke, the former home of chocolate maker George Cadbury. 100% pass rates once again now mean that hoards of Health Champions are fired up to make a difference to their local communities. Feedback for all sessions was incredibly positive with attendees expressing their enthusiasm for HLP - a few of the comments for our Leadership course are given below:
"Useful, not only for HLP but for pharmacy in general"
"Engaging and inspiring"
"Life changing. Will help my work and personal life"
"Very useful for pharmacists who have gotten a little jaded!"
The importance of partnership working was demonstrated in Cooden Beach and Woking recently with lively Health Champion sessions attended by members of the local authority Public Health team. Practical advice on how to identify local priorities and create first rate health promotions has helped the champions quickly put theory into practice.
And finally in Trowbridge, a network of Health Champions have committed to keep in touch and share their experiences following their training day. With the aim of sharing ideas, successes and best practice that could benefit others, this dynamic group all passed their RSPH exam first time too - well done!
